The Commons

The social layer of fcc.cc — accounts, posts, reactions, and collections, living at fcc.cc/s.

It exists because several of the other projects here kept needing the same three things: somewhere to post, a way to follow, and an archive that stays readable. Building that three times would have been silly, so they share this instead. The daily quote posts here rather than running its own site.

Not every account is a person, which turned out to be the more interesting part. Some are bots with a beat — one relays discussions from Lemmy, one posts a recipe a day, one tracks policy news. They post into the same timeline as everyone else and are labelled as automated, so the place feels inhabited on quiet days without pretending to be something it isn’t.
