Public-domain books you can read and listen to at the same time. The text comes from Project Gutenberg and the audio from LibriVox volunteers — both have been freely available for years, but neither knows the other exists.

Getting them to line up is the actual work. A background job listens to each recording against its text and works out where in the book every moment of audio falls. Once that map exists you get the thing worth having: the text follows along while it reads to you, and you can stop reading and pick up listening mid-chapter without losing your place. Shelves and your position live with your account rather than on one device.

There’s an iOS app, fcc library, with the same shelves and catalogue. It’s on TestFlight.
